Sleep, perchance to dream...

Our two have had a nasty habit of never allowing the adults in the house any sleep. If one's well and sleeps well, the other will be sick and have us up all night. and vice versa. and versa vice, or something. We certainly don't condone this behaviour but have grown acustomed to it.

Which makes the last 3 nights of...gasp...uninterrupted sleep a very weird phenomena indeed. We keep waiting for the bubble to burst. In fact I would go so far as to say that we can't enjoy the uninterrupted sleep because we keep waiting for this golden age to end.
There in a nutshell, is the life of a parent.

terribletwostantrums...

....is the name of a site I set up. Its a little thing, sells an ebook that tells people how to deal with theterrible twos. I did it because we have been going through the terrible twos with our daughter Abi, went on the web, found a few forum posts etc and saw quite a few people were like me looking for advice.
So I figured, now I'm a stay at home dad, it might be a way to make a little money. The site was easy enough to set up, but I've found myself drifitng more into the blogging side of things, so not sure what to do in the long term.
Ebook itself is good (sells well in the U.S, and I think the info is good) so I'll give it a chance, but I don't think I'll be doing any more. People who find this blog may go there, and vice versa, so it may serve a purpose after all.
I'm not really a hard sell type of guy I guess.....

Identity Crisis...

A few posts in, and mulling over the direction I should take the blog. When I started it, I thought I would concentrate almost solely on the 'kids' aspect, the day to day stresses/ laughs etc, but I think I'll broaden it a bit. There'll still be plenty of that as well, but I think I'll review the odd things, recommend the odd thing, and pass judgement on anything in the news that catches my eye.
I've got more to say than I thought! come along for the ride....

Man vs Shed....

It was a clash of titans. In one corner me, my wife, mum-in-law, and 2 kids. The other - several seemingly random bits of timber that had been sold to us as a 'playhouse'. It got ugly.
But, after several hours, the playhouse actually resembled a playhouse, and despite my sore shoulder ( from half of the playhouse falling down on me), my wife's sore foot (where a piece of rotten decking finally gave way) and my daughters sore ears (GET AWAY FROM THE DRILL!!!!!) it feels good.
More to do tomorrow, but we are all taking a breather today. I'll post pics up.
Our youngest will get a tent....

Is this thing on..tap tap

I know now what it feels like when a young up and coming band play their first gig, and only a man and his dog turn up...but I don't even have the man and dog!
Starting a blog is weird, because you are writing knowing you have no audience and the only people who may read these early entries are johnny-come-latelys wanting to make sure they didn't miss anything (yes, thats YOU I'm talking to!)
The main thing is, I'm in it for the long haul, I'm having fun, and I feel as though I will have things to say that people may like.
Off to play the PS3 (yes, a 42 year old that plays computer games still...)

Dad 1 transparent paint 0...

well, it was tight for a while there, but we finally defeated the tin of Incredibly Thin Transparent Paint. He put up a fight but we wore him down..
Abi, being only 2 1/2 ,has no real inkling that the random bits strewn across our back garden will probablty become her bolthole for the next 5 years...the No Parents sign won't be far off.
A la The Great Escape I'm excavating a tunnel that comes out underneath it so I can sneak in when I need to, so thats covered.
Now its painted, we shall attempt to put it together tomorrow. Considering I struggle with small model kits, this will be interesting. I'll let you know if I still have a wife tomorrow!
Actually, I quite like the look of it, and I COULD use a den...Abi is only 2, she'd never miss it....

Nah, fairs fair, couldn't do that to her (plus I don't think both grandmas gave us money towards it for my den...)

Dad the Builder.....

In a flash of brilliance, or stupidity, my wife and I decided a playhouse for our daughter would be a good idea. Trawled a few websites, found a nice looking one, ordered it, and looked forward to its arrival.
Arrived a couple of days ago, and it looked nothing like the picture...although to be fair, in the listing it didn't say it would arrive fully painted and assembled!
We've managed some painting ,although I'm a bit resentful its taking 6 coats of paint because SOMEONE chose such a light colour...so today will consist of more painting, then some painting and painting to finish.
Which is nice.
Actually, once its painted and, gulp, assembled, it should look very nice.I'll post a pic here.
Cup of tea first though.....or 2.
